l'obscurité de la culture e. V. is a registered association from Hannover. Everything we earn goes straight back into the culture.
The beginning
Founded by
a group of
friends.
Obscurité started in 2023, out of a shared obsession with electronic music and the whole scene around it.
Our dearest wish was simple: that you and we get to live through many unforgettable nights, accompanied by good music, art and friends. To make that happen we put our heads together, wrote a set of statutes, registered an association, and Obscurité was born.
Since then we have grown into a collective that works closely together to turn ideas and visions into something that actually contributes to the culture here. We connect artists with people, we bring people closer to night culture safely, and we support small artists who deserve a bigger room.
The concept
Obscurité means the absence of light.
We are inspired by contrasts: what happens in between, and how contrast is created in the first place. So we made it part of the concept.
Our design is light, while the parties are held in darkness. Every line-up is curated by hand and mixes analogue with digital sets, well-known names with local artists on the rise. The music and the venues are accompanied by art installations.
In a world that seems to keep turning faster and getting more polarised every day, we would love to give you some contrast: the opportunity to live through nights of pure enjoyment and letting go, together, with everything that separates and connects you.
What we do

Club nights & open airs
Our own series in the halls and yards of Hannover, plus the smaller invite-only Obscurité and Friends nights. Every room gets a line-up built for it, not a template.

Booking small artists
Half of what we do is giving people their first proper slot. We book regional talent next to international names, pay everybody, and give residents a place to develop over time.

Awareness & safer spaces
A visibly marked awareness team and a quiet awareness area at every event, a binding Code of Conduct, and a no-photo policy that protects everyone on the floor.

Art, design & fashion
Posters, installations, light and two clothing collections so far, produced with TIME/LESS Prints on Stanley/Stella blanks, in small runs. The visual side is not decoration, it is part of the work.

Association work
Statutes, a register entry, a general assembly and a board. Unglamorous, but it is what makes the accountability real and lets us sign contracts as a group rather than as private individuals.
Where we are from
Hannover
is home.
Not a stop on a tour. The city we live in, and the reason any of this exists.
Every night we have built started here: in the halls at Kulturzentrum Faust, at Indiego and Café Glocksee, at Garage Nord. We work with the people and the places of this city, and we would like the scene here to be a reason to stay rather than to leave.
Wearables
Two collections,
so far.
We have released two clothing collections, printed by TIME/LESS Prints on organic, fair-wear blanks from Stanley/Stella. Small runs, no overproduction, the logo treated the way it deserves.
New drops are announced on Instagram first.
Friends, venues & partners
We do not
do this alone.
The venues that gave us a room, the collectives we share bills with, the sound and light people who make it work, and the makers behind our prints. Every one of these has carried a night of ours at some point.
