Awareness
We are
aware.
To be aware means to know that something exists, to have knowledge of a particular thing. On our floors, that is a job somebody actually does.
Why
A club night is only good if it is good for everyone in the room.
We want our events to be a safe and fun space for all our guests.
We do not tolerate sexism, racism, transphobia, ableism or discrimination of any kind. That sentence is easy to write and it appears on a lot of websites, so we try to make it mean something concrete. At every single event there is a team whose only task is looking after the people on the floor, and a room they can go to.
Nobody has to justify why something felt wrong. If it felt wrong, that is reason enough to talk to us.
At every event
-
A visibly marked awareness team
You will always find people who are clearly identifiable as awareness. They are there proactively during the night, not only when something has already happened. Ask any staff member and they will point you to them.
-
An awareness area
A quieter space away from the floor where you can sit down, drink some water, wait for a friend, or talk to someone. You do not need a reason to use it.
-
We take it from there
If you tell us about something, you decide what happens next. We can get you out of a situation, keep someone away from you, call you a taxi, or simply stay with you. We do not act over your head.
-
Consequences are real
Our Code of Conduct is binding for guests, DJs, booked third parties and venue staff alike. People who break it leave.
-
No-photo policy
Photos and videos only with the explicit consent of everyone shown. What happens on the floor stays on the floor, and that protects all of us.
Get in touch
Write to
the team.
Something happened at one of our events? A question, a concern, something you want us to know, before or long after the night?
Write to us. This inbox is managed exclusively by FLINTA* people, and they are the ones who read and answer every message. Take the time you need, there is no deadline on this.
For anything unrelated to awareness, such as bookings, press or joining the crew, write to crew@obscurite.events.
If you need more than us
